Here are the live music and chat sessions we have had in the studio this year

2016 - Shaun Kelly & The Returned Gifts

Shaun, along with fellow band members Michael and Ian popped in to play live in the studio for Pete Phillips

And with a new album nearly ready to release, this was a treat for listeners to hear some of the songs before it is released, including their current single, As The Crow Flies

2016 - Ru Gilfillan

Ru is a face you might recognise if you have ever visited the box office at Huntingdon Hall. But there is more to Ru than just selling tickets. At just 18, he is already a member of Worcester Rep, having appeared in the recent production of King John, is working with a local company on a hoped-for TV pilot of a World War 1 drama and also plays in a band. And has an unpronounceable first name, sensibly shortened to Ru...

2016 - Occupational Therapy Week

And Julie Elliott, Beverley Phillips, Helena Bunce and Traci Young all came into the studio to tell David Bower and our patients all about it

2016 - Paolo Pezzangora

Paolo works for the Orchestra Of The Swan over in Stratford and popped in to chat about the orchestra, his job, his love of music (listening and playing), getting married in England and how to make the perfect pizza (which strangely does not include pineapple!)

2016 - WODYS

The Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section made their regular annual pilgrimage to the studio to chat and sing numbers from their 2016 show, Les MisÚrables

And, as usual, they filled the studio in a show hosted by Tony Deakin and Pete Phillips

The show runs from August 2nd to 6th at the Swan Theatre and is already a sell-out with a waiting list for tickets - can't be bad!

2016 - 6-5 Specials

The rather wonderful 6-5 Specials Skiffle Band hail from Alvechurch (with a little bit of Brum thrown into the mix for good measure). They play skiffle. Classics such as Freight Train, Does your chewing gum lose its flavour and My old man's a dustman. They play many local venues and they do it all for charity (particularly the British Lung Foundation, in memory of one of their former members). They have even been on TV! And they not only chatted to Pete Phillips but provided some musical accompaniment too

2016 - Niamh Webb

Always good to welcome younger people to the studio and back for a return visit was Niamh (grand-daughter of our own Tony Clay) who this time not only chose the playlist (as usual) but also treated us to a couple of songs on her newly-acquired ukulele...

2016 - Demi Marriner

Demi is a 19 year old singer-songwriter studying from Oldbury and studying music in Gloucester
Specialising in country music, she has just released her debut Ep Tracks and Trails and with a summer of shows and festivals ahead of her, look set for a very busy time

Demi chatted to Pete Phillips as well as playing live a number of songs from the EP and some new tracks as well

Demi is also appearing at the Marrs Barr on May 26th

2016 - Joe Broughton

Joe is a very  busy guy.  In addition to his work with the Urban Folk Quartet, Joe is also responsible for the Conservatoire Folk Ensemble with its 56 members who will all be appearing on stage at Huntingdon Hall on June 4th (yes, really - all of them!). He also has separate collaborations with brother Ben and Kevin Dempsey, runs a fiddle school and as well as courses in France and, soon in Spain. Where does he find the time?!

Joe chatted to Pete Phillips about the forthcoming tour and his other ventures

2016 - Roger Knight

An annual treat for patients is when the Mayor of Worcester pops in to chat about his year in office just before it comes to an end. This year was no exception with Roger Knight visiting the studio but with the added bonus this time of the Mayoress, his wife Freda. Tony Deakin chatted to them both about what the past year had been like...

2016 - Ben Parker

Ben is currently the Poet in Residence for the Swan, having previously occupied the same role at the Museum of Royal Worcester. Using examples from his work (including two brand-new ones for the Swan which had never been heard publicly before), Ben explained to Pete Phillips about the work he is doing, the process of writing the poems and the way they are constructed. Pete even got to read one himself...

2016 - Michael Armstrong & Lisa Davies

Fresh from his appearance as support to T'Pau and percussionist in the band, Michael followed up his previous phone interview with Pete Phillips with a live studio chat and music session, along with his manager Lisa who also joined in

2016 - Adam Bullock, Barry Ellis and Suzanne Nevitt

With the St John's Players production of John Godber's April in Paris being presented at the Swan Studio from March 9th to 12th, the director and actors came into the studio to explain how they had gone about preparing for the show, given that it takes place largely in Paris and there is just the two of them on stage with a chair...

2016 - Tony Clay & Niamh

Our very own Tony Clay brought his grand-daughter Niamh up to the studio during Pete Phillips's show and, as before, took over for an hour or so, choosing the music which ranged from Elvis and Aretha Franklin to David Bowie and Bob Marley. No Justin Bieber for Niamh!

2016 - Griff Collins

joined Dave Webber for some great live music

2016 - Russ Underwood

joined Dave Webber as Guest Presenter
